A New Report :

With over 900 work class vehicles built to date and over 500 in commercial operation ROVs have become an important tool without which development of offshore oil & gas would have been severely restricted.

The World AUV & ROV Report values the 2004 world market for ROV operations at $600 million and forecasts that after some years of difficulties it will resume its long-term growth trend to reach $750 million in 2008. The five-year forecast shows Western Europe, North America and Africa to be the most significant regions. Support of offshore oil & gas drilling operations and construction support are shown as the largest sectors, together with submarine cable maintenance – but this activity is mostly not open to competitive tendering. Each sector is discussed in detail together with its individual market drivers.

ROV Markets :

The World AUV & ROV Report offers independent analysis and valuation of the business addressable by the commercial ROV operators. The underlying market drivers are discussed for each of the primary market sectors, with the offshore oil & gas industry, currently a $520 million business for ROV operators given particular attention. The $70 million submarine cable business for ROV operations is also examined in detail.

AUV Markets :

The World AUV & ROV Report evaluates the potential markets for AUVs in terms of vehicle numbers by application of three scenarios – 'high', 'most likely' and 'low', and a number of key market sectors:

Deepwater survey – a now established application where AUVs have delivered outstanding high quality data and excellent efficiency allowing high day rates to be charged.

Shallow water survey – a sector with major potential, if a cost effective system can be developed to compete with existing ship-based survey methods in continental shelf depths.

Floating production – where opportunities exist for vehicles to be installed to inspect subsea installations and valves.

Pipelines – both for construction and routine annual inspection.

Full examination of the market and the the current players is included; the study describes the development of the industry and gives many examples of the various types of AUVs and ROVs and the technologies involved.
