INVESTORS in Cape Verde properties will shortly be able to benefit from new direct flight routes operated from the UK.
Already proving a popular alternative to traditional destinations such as France and Spain, the Atlantic archipelago will soon be far more accessible to buyers and tourists alike, cutting out hours of travel time and saving passengers hundreds of pounds.
Real estate agent Noscasa is now looking forward to a surge in sales this winter as investors take advantage of the new routes. Located on Sal Island, Noscasa has the largest database of property and land for sale on the islands.
UK company Astraeus Airlines launches its weekly direct flight from Gatwick and Manchester to Sal Island on 2 November, with Cape Verde-based TAVC Airlines offering an alternative route between Birmingham and the capital Praia on Santiago Island, also in November. Until now, travellers to Cape Verde have had to fly via Amsterdam or Lisbon.
“This is what we have been waiting for,” said Noscasa managing director Paul Akwei. “The fantastic potential of Cape Verde as a desirable destination for the UK holiday market is about to sky rocket now that travel time and costs have been slashed.”
The islands offer attractions that easily compare with those of the Caribbean, Mexico and Florida, but are half the distance from the UK, meaning travellers can arrive without the exhaustion of a 10-hour flight.
Return air fares to Sal Island start at £329, and with the ‘open skies’ policy, more airlines are predicted to follow suit, which can only lead to more competitive prices and more choice for travellers.
“Cape Verde is now as accessible as the Canaries,” said Akwei. “But property prices are much lower, the islands will be protected from over-development and – best of all – your next-door neighbour probably hasn’t been there!”
