It’s official, summer is gone and fall is here. Anyone who loves gardening and the outdoors should squeeze in some time for outdoor before it’s snow-shoveling time. The Greater Asheville Chamber of Commerce’s website, at www.ashevillechamber.com, is the definitive guide to hikes and scenic drives in the area.
This week at www.ashevillechamber.com you can find a list of local outdoor and gardening events; including a Potpourri walk at the Asheville Botanical Gardens. The walk leader will discuss a variety of gardening and nature related topics. Also featured is the 2006 Carolina Bonsai Expo. This is the 11th year for the Expo and will include Bonsai exhibits from 6 different states.
Fisherman, don’t forget about the Bass Tournament at the Cradle of Forestry on US 276 in Pisgah National Forest. Also coming up is the Forest Festival and Woodsman meet where more than 50 craftsman and entertainers will celebrate the forest and backwoods heritage. There will be mountain music, woodcarving, potters, blacksmiths and a lumberjack competition.
On October 14th the Cradle of Forestry will host a guided hike up to scenic Soapstone Ridge. The hike is five miles round trip so hikers should make sure they bring water, lunch, rain gear and good hiking shoes.
If you have any questions about up coming events make sure you visit the Greater Asheville Chamber of Commerce’s website at www.ashevillechamber.com.
