PRLog (Press Release) –
Sep 29, 2006 – AIRBOSS RETURNS WITH NEW TYRE SYSTEM
Specialist tyre manufacturer AirBoss has returned to the market with a new, puncture-proof, segmented-tyre system. The system comprises individual segments, attached to a specially tailored disc that can be fitted to an array of plant and heavy machinery vehicles. AirBoss rose to prominence over a decade ago by supplying the only tyres which could be used on the challenging terrain during the construction of the Channel Tunnel. Now AirBoss has now revised the tyre compound by adding silica to reduce the migration of cracking and increase the life of segments. The AirBoss segmented tyre system is particularly suited to the severe conditions that wreck normal tyres. These environments include demolition sites, metal recycling yards, high temperatures or corrosive areas. AirBoss tyres are also ideal for operation in quarries, landfill sites, and container bases. The biggest advantage of adopting an AirBoss tyre system is that, unlike current tyre options, if a segment does become damaged beyond repair the operator can safely unscrew the attaching bolt and replace the segment. The vehicle can then continue without costly downtime or callout charges. Individual segments cost between £6 to £14. In preparation for future HSE initiatives the AirBoss segmented tyre system contains air gaps that act as shock absorbers. This reduces vibration experienced by the operator and the potential damage to the vehicle. AirBoss can supply clients with an ample stock of spare segments and offer a regular and dedicated service option. The system is now an optional fitting for all plant vehicles. Early adopters of the AirBoss segmented-tyre system include JCB, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Case and Bobcat. The tyres are British made in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom, in a 21000 sq ft factory premises. AirBoss manufactures puncture-proof, cost-effective, tyre solutions to a wide range of industrial and off-road machines. These include the construction, agriculture, waste-disposal, foundries, quarries and demolition sectors. With the AirBoss segmented system, machinery and plant operators have the benefit of more resilient tyres that last longer and provide greater manoeuvrability. The centre discs are specifically configured for every most machines and segments are attached tightly together for mutual support. AirBoss Limited has the exclusive rights to manufacture the AirBoss system within the United Kingdom and European market.
