ƒ8 photo studios donates art for
“Katrina: One Year Later” Benefit in Raleigh
September 27, 2006 (RALEIGH, NC) -- Photographer Cara Galati, a partner in ƒ8 photo studios in Raleigh, recently donated two works of photographic art to the Katrina: One Year Later (KOYL) Benefit that was held on Thursday, September 14 at 7 p.m. at Exploris Museum in downtown Raleigh.
The pieces, entitled “Shell Study” and “Floating Leaf” were each valued at $125.
“I try to give back to the community as much as possible,” said Galati, who regularly supports what she considers worthy causes. “I’ve been so fortunate in my business that I feel it’s only right.”
Galati said she believes KOYL organization is a very worthy cause. KOYL’s purpose is to keep public attention focused on those still suffering in the Gulf Coast and to sustain efforts to improve lives in the area, primarily through the Violet Kitchen Camp of Hope. The camp provides three meals a day, seven days a week, to storm survivors and volunteers helping to rebuild New Orleans’ stricken St. Bernard Parish.
Galati, the former principal of CGG Photograhy, recently launched ƒ8 photo studios with partner Jonathan Kaz of Sixpence Studios in Waterville, Maine, who will relocate to Raleigh at the end of the year. The new studio is located in The Royal Bakery Building on Hillsborough Street.
