TRADITIONAL Christening gowns, hand-made and designed in rural Herefordshire, are being worn by babies all over the world.
Susan Lawson has been making her beautiful Christening attire since 1998, firstly based in Lancashire and now in Herefordshire. The Christening gowns have now gained a world-wide appeal and are being bought by clients in many countries, including New Zealand, Hong Kong, Asia and Europe, as well as the USA and, of course, an ever growing UK market.
Several shops throughout England, Scotland and Europe, as well as some of the major online stores including the Kids Window, now stock Susan’s gowns. However, her main priority is to offer an individual service to proud parents and grandparents. To this end, an e-commerce internet site with full credit-card ordering facility, where customers can deal on-line, has been established.
A great deal of love, care and attention goes into making each and every gown, and Susan prides herself on her personal customer service.
The gowns can be bespoke and Susan also offers a service to make the robe from an existing wedding dress in addition to one or her unique Limited Edition heirloom collection. Also offered is a range of very popular pure silk gowns.
Susan places great emphasis on the traditional longer gown, attention being paid to the detail, such as pin-tucking, laces and piping. Laces and silks are carefully sourced and selected for quality, colour and design. Bibs and shawls can be embroidered with the baby’s name and Christening date, giving an extra memento for the special day.
Introduced for 2006 is a newly-designed series of unusual gowns, featuring subtle colours such as pinks, silvery blues and tartan. These new colour combinations recognise that the gowns may be used not only for Christenings, but also blessing, dedication and naming ceremonies, giving the customer options to the more traditional white and ivory robes.
