The concept couldn't be simpler, a book of grids, predominately empty ones, that enable the Sudoku addict to either save a puzzle to solve later, from a newspaper, off the internet, or wherever. The saved grids can be completed at any time, and there is the option of copying one from a newspaper that you are doing today, and then do it again in the future when you have forgotten the solution.
Ironically, the first customer for this book is not a sudoku company, but a game company - Shendoku.com, the first true game that utilises Sudoku grids as a starting point for game play. Their idea is to offer a customised version of the book as a kind of Day Minder that allows the user to keep diary information, notes, thoughts and ideas while also saving Sudoku grids. The completed sudoku grids can then be used for games of Shendoku, their unique multi player game concept.
GRID were only too happy to offer this customised version to Shendoku.com and are offering a range of alternative layouts and customising options to customers. In a unique concept, GRID offer to produce a customised version of the book for corporate or personal customers, upload it to a self-publishing site, either Lulu.com or CafePress, and allow the clients to purchase directly from there, or order for direct delivery to friends, clients etc.
This is a new concept in corporate gift ideas, and will be followed by a range of other items, mainly game related, and a range of diaries, daybooks, and customisable items that can be ordered in the original form, or as customised products. Initially they are looking for feedback on the concept and can be contacted directly at the email shown separately. A dedicated website will be launched in October and a full range of items will be available for purchase for the Christmas season.
Shendoku.com are supporting this concept and have commissioned GRID to make further items for their Christmas and Corporate ranges to be found at shendoku.com or directly through lulu.com/shendoku - their online shop.
