Need Referral…Will Pay

Frontline Source Group (http://www.frontlinesourcegroup.com), has always built their business on referrals. Lately, an increasingly tight job market has prompted the Dallas area staffing agency to start a referral reward program: up to five hundred dollars for each referral if the person gets the job and keeps it for at least ninety days.

“Candidates who might normally say, ‘No, I don’t know anyone,’ will take a moment to really consider the question if we offer a reward,” Sherrie Dvorak, a recruiter at Frontline Source Group, said. “I’ve found a lot of truth in the adage ‘you get what you pay for,’ especially in the staffing industry.”

Referral reward programs are one of many new areas opening up in the staffing industry. As the job market tightens, competition between staffing agencies increases. In order to win a client, an agency must consistently produce highly qualified candidates for their clients. This is where the referral program comes in.

Good People Know Good People

“Finding a good candidate is hard,” Bill Kasko, President of Frontline Source Group, said, explaining the reasoning behind his company’s new reward program. “But odds are that one good candidate knows two or three other great candidates. Good people know good people.”

Kasko went on to explain that even if the candidate’s referrals are happily employed, they may know someone ready to make a change.

“The cycle doesn’t end,” Kasko said. “If I present someone with a familiar name and a substantial reward, he or she will likely list a few friends.” Part of the challenge though, according to Kasko, is letting people know about the reward program.

“If people don’t know about the program, then we don’t get more referrals,” Kasko said. “Part of launching this program was to emphasis that we pay for referrals through our website at (http://www.frontlinesourcegroup.com/referrals.htm) and pushing this information on our Blog (http://www.frontlinesourcegroup.com/blog/blog.html).”

The New Advertising: The Blog and Job Boards

Frontline Source Group’s reward program is only part of their advertising system. While other agencies pay the big bucks for full page newspaper or magazine advertisements, Frontline Source Group opts for less expensive but equally effective avenues.

“We make the internet work for us through job boards and our Blog,” Dvorak said. She added that the biggest mistake a company can make is sticking only to tried and true advertising methods. “Our company is always trying out the newest options, such as a Blog and job boards, to get our name out there.”

Many companies also think that when it comes to websites one is enough, but according to Dvorak, that is also a mistake. In the internet world, different types of websites have different connotations.

“People look to a Blog for personal contact and the newest information,” Dvorak said. “Our Blog gives our company a face, a personality. A company website is a good start for contact information and history, but having additional sites such as Blog or a job board is a big help.”

Part of the reason multiple sites are useful is the “clutter factor.” The more united a website’s content is, the easier it is to navigate, according to Dvorak. So if someone wants the latest news updates, he or she can visit one website; if company history is the objective, there is another website specific to that information.

Frontline Source Group’s websites are all interlinked for effective access. Their Blog (http://www.frontlinesourcegroup.com/blog/blog.html), is linked to their website (http://www.frontlinesourcegroup.com), and most recently the company added a link on both sites to the job board (www.nounemployment.com), where Frontline announced a new partnership just a few weeks ago (http://www.frontlinesourcegroup.com/blog/2006/09/frontline-source-group-and.html).

“Getting to the top of the industry requires innovative advertising, and our referral program, a Blog and job boards fit the bill.” Kasko said. “With any growing company, it pays to be creative.”
