Sep 26, 2006 – A split-level Edinburgh house, with views of Edinburgh Castle, is expected to fetch £700,000 when it goes on the market later this week. The house was the birthplace of Wind in the Willows author Kenneth Grahame is up for sale. Bookworms and wealthy property buyers are among those expected to show interest in 30 Castle Street, Edinburgh which was converted from a classic, spacious New Town residence into a nine-bedroom guest house several decades ago. The home occupies the third and fourth floors of a Georgian building on the west side of the street, opposite the Oloroso restaurant. Grahame was born in the house on 8 March, 1859.
