Jakobs discovered his fascination for the Swedish actress Greta Garbo by chance. “Being a fan of old Hollywood movies I found the movie »Grand Hotel« featuring Greta Garbo“, tells Jakobs. The movie dated 1932 inspired him immediately. “Even though I had alreay heard about »The Divine« I did not know really much about Greta Garbo. I became curious, wanted to learn more.“ Jakobs started internet investigation but learned that there were nearly no homepages providing deeper insights on the life of Garbo.
He wanted to change that. A internet request to several fan pages triggered a huge amount of reaction. He received emails from all over the world. Some fans owned some books on the subject which Jakobs digitalized and fit into his homepage. After about 200 hours of activity the homepage comes up very nicely. Jakobs receives emails on a daily basis from fans from all over the world thanking him.
For example, Marcin from Teschen ( Poland ) writes: “I like this homepage for it’s many photographies, interesting data and many, many solidarity for the movie star, who was one of the greatest actresses the Cinema ever had.“ Such reactions make Jakobs happy. “Meanwhile the homepage is top-ranking on Google requests“, he announces proudly.
The success of the homepage stimulates Jakobs: “I want to furnish full and complete information on Greta Garbo“, and thus he constantly works on the perfection. “Daily I receive new facts on the life of the star“, he says. His personal summit of the homepage: Private pictures of her New York flat, where the Swedish Lady lived from the mid fifties till her dead.
“There is still so much to be discovered about this fascinating person“, Jakobs says. And because he is so stimulated by her myth, he keeps collecting facts about the »Queen of Hollywood«, like producer Orson Wells once called her.
He is doing so with a lot of engagement.
