FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 20, 2006 -
“FTF!” is a family-friendly, two to four person treasure-hunting-themed card game that can be played in 15-30 minutes. The game has been designed to capture the excitement of the underground sport, Geocaching, using stunning and vivid illustrations. The game can also be used as a regular deck of cards and comes in a blue collector's tin.

Object of the Game: “FTF!” features cards suited to the seasons - fall, spring, summer, and winter. Players then use a combination of Gear (e.g. bug spray), Movement (e.g. 4x4), and Obstacle (e.g. spider webs) cards to out-trick other players and race to become the first person to find the cache.

Independent game outfit, Solid Wood Productions, LLC, created and pitched the game idea to Groundspeak, parent company of the Geocaching.com site. Groundspeak granted Solid Wood Productions the license to produce the official card game for the increasingly popular sport. Ryan Thiegs led the development of the card game in partnership with artist Eric Smith.

The Sport: Geocachers hide treasure-filled containers (“caches”) all over the world and post the GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) coordinates of the cache locations (with Groundspeak’s approval) at geocaching.com. There are 191,000+ geocaches hidden in 100+ countries and in all 50 US states. Any GPS user can then use the location coordinates posted on geocaching.com to find the caches hidden in national parks, cities, trails, etc. Once found, a cache container may provide the visitor with a wide variety of treasures. GPS units are sold at Target, Wal-Mart, Sporting Good Stores, Radio Shack, etc. Since Geocaching was first profiled in the New York Times in October of 2000, the sport has been featured in over 400 regional and national news stories ranging from TV, radio, national and local magazines and newspapers including Law & Order: CI, Time Magazine, ABC News (USA), BBC, and hundreds of other media venues.

”First to Find!” retails on Geocaching.com for $9.95.
