London, Canada--September 17 2006--
In 1952, Dr. Mason began using hypnosis to treat a teenage boy whose body was covered with warts. He put the boy in a trance and told him his arm would heal quickly, that the warts would disappear and his skin would become normal and healthy. A week later, the boy returned to see him, his arm totally healed. But the surgeon who had made several unsuccessful attempts at treating the boy with skin grafts told Dr. Mason the boy was not suffering from warts, but from an incurable genetic disease called ichthyosis. From what was known of the disease, his case had been deemed hopeless. Surprising it was indeed to the surgeon and to the medical community that a genetically determined disease was cured by nothing other than the power of suggestion or the power of the mind.
The boy’s case is not unusual. We have known about the placebo effect for years. But what is remarkable is that most of us think of it as something extraordinary when in fact, it is something quite ordinary once we place the biology of belief within dynamics that make us human. Because we have been conditioned by a materialist attitude towards events, we have been programmed culturally to think of events like the placebo effect, the spontaneous remission of cancer or even the manifestations of intention as “miracles.”
“We can no longer afford to ignore this fact,” writes Dr. Bruce Lipton, a renowned cell biologist and former professor at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. His book The Biology of Belief compels us to re-think not only the nature of the universe but our body’s implicit connection to the quantum field. We can no longer afford to ignore the “miraculous”
This Fall, Dr. Bruce Lipton will be one of the guests on "Reclaiming The Body's Wisdom," an Internet Radio Show hosted by health and wellness expert, Mary Desaulniers Ph.D on VoiceAmerica ™ 7thWave Network.
Why a talk show on the body?
“I have always been fascinated by the body as an icon of cultural bias.” says Mary. “Most of us live as exiles within our bodies. As women, we grow up ambivalent about the ‘body.’ We hate it and we love it; we are never satisfied with it. We worry excessively about every ounce we gain, every wrinkle we get or we give in uncontrollably to eating and other addictive binges. This hunger or denial of hunger is the reason for the dramatic increase in obesity in North America and also the reason for yet another weight loss book. Most significantly, it is a symptom of our inability to honor the body, give our body its due as living, breathing wisdom that needs to be reclaimed as expression of spirit.”
“Reclaiming The Body’s Wisdom,” promises to show listeners how to tap into the wisdom of their own bodies:
-how to reprogram their beliefs at the cellular level so they can have joyful, fulfilling lives;
-how to manage hunger and resistance to the body through movement, dance, music , laughter;
-how to return their bodies and mind to fluid movement by embracing their own destiny as a “moving intelligence”;
-how to take charge of their lives by encountering and understanding their own death;
-how to enhance the body’s self-healing mechanism through holistic bodywork therapies and more….
Guests include Dr. Lee Pulos ( The Biology of Empowerment)
For Mary Desaulniers, tapping into the wisdom of the body is the foundation of all life experience. “A Great Life begins with a Great Body. And a Great Body is a Body well-fed, well-loved, well-exercised, well-read, well-nourished in all senses of the word.” Everyone interested in health, fitness, and quality of life is invited to join Mary as she and her guests explore the quantum dynamics of the human body.
