Local Boys Take First Place.
Birmingham, Alabama September 11, 2006 – Paintball, The fastest growing extreme sport in the nation is played by more than 13 million people around the world in over 40 countries. And, believe it or not 49% of all paintball players in the world are in the American south.
Its no wonder that some of the finest competition paintball players in the country come from the State of Alabama. One such team is making some waves in the local tournament paintball world. Team Red NRG "energy", sponsored by Red's paintball in Alabaster, Al and Hybrid Technologies, made their name known as well as felt this past sunday at Mt. Doom paintball field in Hanceville, Al during an A.C.E.S. tournament.
Red NRG, comprised of Josh Hughes, Jake Piotraczk, Kyle Fricke, Josh Nguyen, Tyler Bishop, and captained by Justin Scott of Pelham played their way to the top this weekend by winning first place at the Mt Doom A.C.E.S. Event.
The Alabama Challenge Event Series is a 3 and 5 player tournament paintball series that holds events throughout Alabama at various paintball fields and is favored among many of the states tournament players for its quality of play and strict adherence to rules and safety guidelines. Red NRG is a team of " young guns", a term used in the paintball industry for players under 16 years of age.
Team Red NRG is currently in training to enter the paintball World Cup held at Walt Disney world in Orlando, Florida. The World Cup is considered the "Super Bowl" of competition paintball and will host teams from around the world. With some of the prize packages for first place worth more than $25,000, the competition will be stiff and the games will be intense. We wish these young men continued success in the World Cup competition.
