The German KG system today continues to be a key source of
ship finance. Around 30% of investment in German closed end funds is estimated
to be in shipping, generally in the form of KG financing. In 2005, an estimated
euro 3.0 billion of equity was invested in shipping KG funds, contributing to a
total KG investment volume in ships of euro 7.8 billion. Against this
background, Clarkson Research is pleased to present its third annual report on
this subject in the form of KG Shipping & Finance 2006.
