FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep 03, 2006 -
The news of bids by Easyjet and Ryanair to start flights to Malta from Luton and Dublin has been welcomed by a UK based Company that helps potential purchasers of property in Malta. Ryanair at a recent press conference said that they aimed to start flights within a matter of weeks.

Ray Woods, owner of www.maltabuyproperty.co.uk said that typically, over 30% of residential property sales made though their associates in Malta, came from UK and Irish buyers.

He added,
“Malta has always had many attractions for British and Irish residents.

The news that Ryanair and Easyjet are competing to launch new services to Malta is very welcome as it not only impacts of the price of flights - but also the availability of flights which is very important.

It is seen as a relatively safe and stress free location Country in which to invest – and its attraction has been increased by its membership of the EU.

•   English is a joint first language in Malta, which makes it much easier for residents from overseas to fit in with the very friendly local Maltese population.

•   Properties in Malta have increased in value by an average of 8% per annum over a 50 year period, accelerating to 15% in the last 2-3 years.

•   Malta joins the Euro in January 2008 and many commentators believe that this will add further pressure on property prices in 2007.

•   Mortgages are freely available locally and HSBC Bank have recently announced that they are making buy to let mortgages available in Malta for the first time.

These developments are bound to give a boost to the housing market in Malta which is already reacting to a predicted increase of 30% in the domestic population by 2050.

Environmental concerns and a shortage of development land are likely to lead to demand outstripping supply in future years.”

They expect to carry 110,000 passengers a year in and out of Luton. This represents around 10% of the annual number of visitors to the island.
