Gold was discovered in Colorado at Chicago Creek on Jan. 7, 1859. With it came gold hunters from all over the country searching for their special pot at the end of the rainbow.
After a long day of digging, miners looked forward to a mug of their favorite beer. Nothing seemed to soothe aching backs and aching spirits more.
"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy," Benjamin Franklin said.
Touché, I say. Did you know there was a time in America when almost every town had its own brewery?
As these small towns grew into big cities, breweries grew along with them. Most of the beer in Colorado eventually came from big breweries like Coors, Neef Brothers, Walters, and Zang's.
Collecting Breweriana is a way of keeping the old breweries alive, especially those that have disappeared like the long lost toys of childhood. In a very real sense, Breweriana is a history of the common man through time.
It’s a big collecting field. It includes everything from beer cans, advertising signs, serving and tip trays to calendars, mugs, coasters, bottle caps, labels, and hardware like meters, plaques and regulators.
Some of the first collectibles were the bottle caps, sometimes called crowns, from the 1890s. When Prohibition started in 1920, breweries, taverns and saloons closed their doors. Signs and trays were sold and given away which also sparked a collecting trend.
Nowadays, vintage neon advertising signs are getting popular. In the last 25 years, many taverns have often stopped using them because they’re fragile and difficult to repair. These signs often sit in backrooms and basements collecting dust.
Smart collectors hunt for and fix them.
On March 30, Morphy Auctions in Denver, Pa., featured a selection of Breweriana in its spring auction.

What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication)
How do I access RSS?
RSS/News Aggregators:
RSS/News Aggregators (also called Readers) will download and display RSS feeds for you. A number of free and commercial News Aggregators are available for download.
Many aggregators are separate, "stand-alone"
Weblogs:
Another way many people use RSS feeds is by incorporating content into weblogs, or "blogs". Blogs are web pages comprised of usually short, frequently updated items and web links. Blogging as a publishing tool is used for many purposes: traditional journalism, personal journals, group discussions around a topic, and many combinations in between.
