118 trades offer free 40,000 free mobile phone upgrades option to customers
Daniel Corby, the founder and ceo of fast growing directory business 118trades has signed an agreement with sister business 118mobile to allow customers of 118trades to receive a free nokia mobile phone connected to the 3g network. Speaking about the agreement, Daniel Corby said “118mobile is a new start up business within 118 group, and the first port of call will be to offer 118 trades customers the chance to receive a free nokia handset connected to a pay monthly tariff on 3g. The offer will be available to all customers of 118 trades and could extend to 50,000 connections. 118 mobile launches in October 2006 and will operate from a new state of the art call centre at Chelmer Village, Chelmsford where the company is now recruiting upto 350 new people for the operation. Initially 118 mobile will target the customer base of 118trades but then extend the sales operation to the wider market. The offer will take in 3 handsets and 2 tariffs but offer an exceptional value added twist, which will be provided by 118telecom. Details of the full terms and conditions of the package will be announced later in the month”
118 trades it the UK’s leading directory service of tradespeople and businesses with checkable references and covers 70% of the UK by population, with aims of National coverage by early 2007. 118 trades have in excess of 40,000 customers, all small business users. 118 group now takes in the wider businesses including 118telecom, a reseller of memorable numbers, Fido Local, a publishing business and 118gethitched, a wedding portal.

118 Group expects to list on the AIM market in 2006 / 2007 and is led by Daniel Corby, previously sales director at mobile retailer phones4u. The senior team includes Chairman, Richard Allan and Non Executive director, Hugh Craen, who joins the business in September 2006. Hugh Craen founded and was Managing Director of AIM listed Potential Finance Group plc until 2005 when he stepped down to develop his own interests. Bradley Chapman, commercial director joined the board in June 2005 following a successful career with Zenith Conservatories and Office Depot.
118 mobile is a new start up within the wider group and will operate from Essex and the call centre operated by 118 group in Salt Lake City, India.
